Udacity is looking for a Head of Communications to lead all external, internal and executive communications for the company. This role will successfully shape Udacity’s public positioning and awareness, and the qualified candidate will be a driven leader with a proven track record of building and leading high-performance communications teams.

Responsibilities:

-Develop and lead overall communications plan aligned to the company’s mission and key priorities on a global scale.

-Build world-class messaging and positioning for key announcements and product launches tied to the company’s commitment of “lifelong learning”.

-Manage and scale a growing communications team and oversee key agency relationships.

-Lead all media relations activities, including strategy and message development for technology, business, and consumer media audiences.

-Work closely with executive leadership team to advance Udacity’s awareness and prepare C-level executives for high-profile interviews and speaking engagements.

-Lead communications cross functionally to influence and drive key decisions and goals across the organization and in close alignment with marketing.

-Manage policy communications and cultivate relationships with influential policymakers to advance the understanding of “online education and lifelong learning” for people of all career stages and socioeconomic backgrounds.

-Oversee internal communications, including employee and organizational structure changes.

-Manage reactive/crisis communications with strong ability to make sound judgment calls and prepare effective response plans and positioning

Requirements:

-15+ years of corporate communications or public relations in consumer technology or education industries.

-5+ years leading a communications team preferred.

-Strong media relationships with technology, business and consumer press; built-in relationships with key influencers and government officials a plus.

-Experience building communications/media campaigns, reactive/crisis management plans and advising C-level leadership.

-Solid business and analytical skills, including an understanding of financial metrics and investor relations.

-Superior writing skills with ability to write in a variety of styles.

-Passionate about education, technology and lifelong learning.
