The Supervising Program Administrator will play a key role in securing the success of the District’s long-term, high priority legislative and policy efforts at the local and regional levels and supervise subordinate staff.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•       The Supervising Program Administrator’s duties will be to advocate for and advance the District’s high priority legislative issues at the local and regional levels. This position also attends and lobbies during external meetings in influencing elected and appointed officials, stakeholders, external associations, and by fostering relationships with key policy and decision makers.
•       This position will directly administer the local and regional government relations program which includes: directly lobbying for support and advancement of the District’s high priority legislation, funding for District projects, and other issues, monitoring of legislation at the local and regional levels, forecasting strategic opportunities, conducting strategic advocacy tours throughout the year, overseeing the Community Partnering Sponsorship Program and the District’s community engagement and event program, and other duties required by the local and regional government relations program.
•       This position will lead project teams tasked with engaging government bodies and obtaining support on specific legislative issues relevant to the District as a whole.  Additional responsibilities include making key decisions on program goals, budget, messages, and outcomes, preparing strategic outreach plans and white papers, and presenting them to external policy and decision makers on a regular basis.
•       Finally, this position requires that it executes strategic external stakeholder partnership activities at the local, state and federal levels, and shapes public policy and opinion while building the District’s image, brand and reputation.

Experience:
Six (6) years of experience in assigned program area, including either one (1) year in experience planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing various projects or programs, or serving as a District-recognized subject matter expert or advisor in assigned program area.

Training:
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration or a related field. Directly related experience may be substituted for the college requirement on the basis of one and one-half years of experience for one year of education to a maximum of four years.
