Lumina Communications has immediate openings in its San Jose office for an Account Director and Vice President to assist with media relations for a variety of tech clients. Lumina Communications is a rapidly growing tech PR firm with U.S. offices in Silicon Valley and New York.

The Account Director/Vice President position is an opportunity to become a leader within our thriving agency. As a member of the Lumina team, this individual will have a major responsibility in new business meetings/proposals, take charge of accounts/programs, be the main point of contact for clients, and be able to manage junior staff members and help them to develop their skills in PR.

Responsibilities:

Be the main point of contact for clients

Work in a team environment

Manage junior staff and be someone that they can look up to and learn from

Be able to think strategically and develop PR plans for client campaigns and launches

Participate in new business pitches and leverage existing relationships to bring business to the agency

Be involved in account work and not afraid to dive in and get hands dirty

Manage budgets and timelines for all accounts

Be on top of trends within industries your client represents and jump on one-off media opportunities for breaking news

Be heavily involved in media relations

Additional responsibilities as necessary

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications or related field

At least 6-8 years of PR experience; agency is a must; cybersecurity experience preferred

Existing relationships with the media (cybersecurity a plus)

A proven track record of secured placements

Ability to deal with personalities of all types and adjust according to clients’ needs

Must work well in teams and willing to mentor junior staff

Superior people and communication skills, both verbal and written

Strong organizational and time management skills

Must be willing to work from our Silicon Valley location in San Jose, California
