Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Katz & Associates is a public affairs and community relations firm, and we are expanding our presence in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our firm is looking for a proactive assistant project manager for its existing base of infrastructure, construction-industry and public sector clients.
The ideal candidate will be able to manage the production of collateral materials, develop and manage special events and public meetings, and draft and proofread news releases, newsletter articles, fact sheets and other client materials as needed. Candidate will interact regularly with clients on a tactical level and will support efforts to expand client base, including assistance with proposal and/or presentation development. Candidate will also need to be able to conduct media outreach. Candidate may also be required to participate or present in community events and public meetings.
Candidate will work to create media opportunities and provide strategic counsel to grow the visibility of the project/client ranging from conference placement to award recognition. Candidate must provide strategic counsel to client to grow the visibility of the project. Candidate will likely work more than a 40 hour week.
Applicant must be detail-oriented, client-focused and have strong familiarity with AP style guidelines. Training in facilitation is preferred. Bilingual or multicultural outreach candidates are a plus. Additional skills required include: strong problem-solving skills, proofreading, writing, project management, diplomacy, creativity, leadership and initiative. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and social media tools.
Internal K&A Responsibilities:
Candidate may manage project support or intern staff on project(s) candidate is assigned to. Candidate must have the ability to draft proposals, develop comprehensive communication plans and timelines, and be able to develop/manage budgets. Candidate is expected to join a relevant professional organization outside of work hours, which would include networking, business development, volunteering and marketing the K&A brand and our consulting services. Candidate may be expected to be part of the new business development and online marketing efforts.
Ideal candidates will have a minimum of two to four years related experience in a public affairs or public relations agency. Media relations and/or government relations experience is required. Previous experience with construction outreach a plus. Knowledge of the greater San Francisco and the greater Bay Area is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in related area required. Some local and Bay Area travel may be required.
